| HOMIES COMING IN HOT RAHH TIGER BALM
Im competing in Tiger balm 2010 YEAH BABY IM GONNA BE YESSING, 151lb and under division kickboxing: gonna fight some 15 year olds probably.
So its on March 27 or the 28th not sure exactly, in the morning or the afternoon.
Im going to classes 3 times a week, and am going to the 2x gym where im working explosive stuff like plyo, kettlebells, pullups, pushups +arms etc. Doing alot of abs 2-3 a week. Some swimming
As well, having 2x cardio days which =bas rutten plus Soul inspired sprints.
So essentially i have 19 days to prepare, and im getting into pretty damn good shape but......
The rounds are 1 round 1: 30 seconds each, its a fucking blitz!!! If you win you advance to the second then blah then blah.
But yeah, thats it. When should i stop working out btw (like 2 days before?), and how do u guys mentaly prepare before you go out/ days before.

I have never competed before, but a guy that I know from Denmark sent me this link.
He placed 2nd in the danish kickboxing tournament.

i would stop 2 days before to let ur muscles rest and reform cause after a workout the theroy is that ur muscles decompose then reform stronger so i would rest 2 days before the match and maybe ice your body maybe relax in a hottub if you have one...but i would keep swimming that losens ur muscles so you can fight faster.
good luck

How I always rested was, my weigh in day should be my third day of rest. No sparring, no training. I used these days to stay hydrated, and watch my weight.
90 second KB rounds? That sounds like a chance for crazy action, and some fast-paced KO's
Mental prep:
I shut out everyone but my training "cliche" from weigh-in to my fight.
Meditate... Meditate... Meditate... Meditate... Meditate
I know this is corny, but, "Envision the win" If you think you're going to lose, you're one extra step away from winning.
Meditate

Good call on training your explosiveness. With these short rounds, it's your best bet. Make sure you practice your countering, because your opponents are gonna be doing the same thing. Have them knock themselves out. Think: Parry the cross, right into a lead hook. The more he puts into his cross, the more he's going to run into your hook. Stay calm, but be explosive. With only one round, you have no excuse to be tired at the end of the round. Make sure you get a good warm up before you fight -- light pad work, clinching, etc. Build up a light sweat.
As for resting time: Stop lifting weights about 10 days before. You want your muscles fully healed for this fight. The last week should be cardio and sprint drills (while keeping good technique). And yeah, the day of the fight is usually my third day of rest. Don't go TOO hard on your last day of training.

Great responses, thx guys.
@Juno, Really ten days before stop lifting? Does that include pullups and pushups? My guess is yes since that does break down muscle fibers, but yeah my main hope is that I don't gas out since this is my first competition im probably gonna be nervous/exicted to get in there.

Calisthenics should be okay.
My trainer told me: "Don't be scared to go hard. Would you rather be gased, and win? Or, at the end of the fight, be fine and say 'I wish I would have gone harder.'"
I used my full contact sparring to judge my pace. Since you have 90 seconds, and then time to recover, I'd go balls to the walls. I wouldn't come out throwing flurries, but I'd step to the center and give him a solid jab to the nose. Let your opponent you're not there to play.

Dont take the next few days easy. 2x a week isn't going to be enough cardio - try 3x or 4x. Up until 5 days before the event, run HARD. 400m and 100m is PERFECT for this. If anything, replace some of the 100m with 50 or 80m.
Get in all the live training you can. You got this, man.

I haven't competed before but as for confidence.
Look yourself in the mirror and know that you are a fightng machine, that you can win, that you WILL win. This other kid is a punk you can beat him. (but don't go in there thinking he won't put up a fight) It's good to be nervous it means your not over confident.
Clear your mind before the fight.
if you're overconfident you could lose.
Remember you will lose 100% of the fights you don't try at.
