 Tito Ortiz Hospitalized With Influenza
Tito Ortiz's wife Jenna Jameson took to her Twitter account today to send her well wishes to her husband who is apparently so ill with the flu that he has had to be hospitalized. She Tweeted, "My heart is with @titoortiz right now. I know being in the hospital is rough, your family is here loving you.I will always have your back…"
"The Huntington Beach Badboy" also used Twitter to describe his condition. He posted, "This is the worst flu I have every [sic] had. More IV's please… this sucks!"
There have been many rumors circulating the past few days about Ortiz's mysterious condition; it is widely believed that he could not finish filming "The Ultimate Fighter" and was replaced as a coach and as an opponent to opposing coach Chuck Liddell by Rich "Ace" Franklin.
Since filming of the reality show has already wrapped it seems doubtful that this bout with the flu is the reason Ortiz left the show (if he did) but it would be a reason to back out of a scheduled fight if he were unable to get in a complete training camp. It has also been postulated that Ortiz has suffered a serious shoulder injury.
At this point nothing has been confirmed and it appears that all parties are playing this one close to the chest. We may have to wait until the premier of this season's "TUF" to see what exactly is going on (an excellent marketing ploy, by the way).
Many of the rumors sprang from cryptic messages on Ortiz's Twitter that spoke about some hardship that he was going through. Jenna Jameson recently revealed that what would have been their third child together was miscarried; this could easily explain away these comments.
It is quite possible that none of these rumors have substance but they have been so prevalent lately that it is hard to discount them completely. What is sure is that, while Ortiz may not always be a fan favorite, a miscarriage is a tragic event and he and his family should be left alone to grieve.
