 UFC 123 Headed To Detroit
Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission, Dr. James Weber, has confirmed MMA will be invading The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit on November 20th.
"My understanding is that it is a done deal," Weber told the Detroit Free Press. "Detroit deserves this. It is a boxing and MMA town. It would be a great boost to the economy and represents the character, fight and will of the people in this area. It is a dream of mine come true."
The main event for UFC 123 is expected to be a pivotal light heavyweight clash between former champions Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Both athletes have previously confirmed their tango via Twitter.
A return to Chicago had been high on the promotion's list of venues to host the 205-pound scrap, but after it was discovered that the circus would be rolling into town, UFC president Dana White and Co. were forced to look elsewhere.
"I believe November 20th (at the Palace) is a very, very solid date for UFC 123," UFC's Detroit representative Al Low added.
