It wasnt his day, and he still won. Dont get me wrong Sonnen is awesome, but Silva is simply the better fighter....for now anyway. I'd love to see Sonnen come back after six months of hard training and whoop him.

You guys can get away with saying Silva won that match, and you can get away with saying stuff about him being at his worst and having injuries, but don't say he was the "better fighter" that day because he obviously wasn't, by far

Sonnen was the much better fighter in this fight. The stats don't lie.
"Well, maybe he was having personal issues." Guess what, some of the best have had personal issues, and still won.
"Well, maybe he was injured going into the fight." Another piss-poor cop-out. Ortiz has fought with extreme neck problems, won and lost.

The "best" fighters get caught all the time. (For those of you who think Fedor was one of the best, there's your example. But Fedor's a scrub, but that's a different discussion.)

Sonnen is the best fighter at 185, but Silva is the champion.

Yeah but it's MMA. Doesn't matter how many times you hit the guy Grappling is just as important. Submissions are very good and guess what? Silva tapped his ass out and Chael Sonnen did the fag tap. he basically half assed tapped hoping the ref wouldn't do anything but silva would let go. its like a tap 1/12 lol

but only thing Sonnen had on Silva was his wrestling. and G&P and Anderson Silva deflected most of the ground and pound and most of it was small punches. I think Silva could of done a LOT better! so could of sonnen but yes it's true silva did have a rib injury I don't know about the death in his family or anything like that. but you should listen to sonnen after the silva fight! Sonnen said "he couldn't beat silva and has to train a lot more then he will beat him". I personally believe Sonnen could of beat silva though

Sonnen talked tons of trash and his ass tapped out like 2 minutes of the fight. if that fight went on Silva would've lost by decision! Sonnen might be confused in a rematch since I know Silva would be doing alot more ground work and takedown defence. Silva also dominated sonnen in stand up but suprisingly Silva did get caught with some good hits but i think Silva did better in the stand up part

it was great fights on that card though because I was there in the oracle arena Oakland, Ca. the crowds were so fun to be in! I wonder if I was on t.v because I had front row seats and the camera was going past me so I might be on t.v shouting ftw!

I also met Forrest griffin, that guy is epic!

Silva dominated the standup?

Maybe you could argue he barely edged him out, but no, Silva was not superior in the stand up in that fight. Sonnen controlled everything everywhere, and sat too far back and couldn't fight off a triangle. Yes, he lost, but all-encompassingly, sonnen was the better fighter the entire match.

I noticed most times Silva fell was from backing up and falling, something was different about silva that fight. I have seen him compete tons better!

as for the fight...Silva was looking for the submission the entire fight! Silva also has a great chin

Silva falling down? Yeah, that was him getting tagged by Sonnen. Silva was out on his feet towards then end of one of the rounds. Silva landed less then 30 punches, while Sonnen landed close to 300. I do feel as though Sonnen may have tagged a bit premature, but, it was a pretty deep choke.
