Default How to tell if you can take someone in a fight?

I often look at people and wonder if I could take them in a fight. Are there general things to look for when sizing up opponents that might give in indication as to who would win.

I am referring to both professional and amateur fighting.

Can never judge a book by its cover, look at Fedor
hes ice cold but has the best killer instinct.

i dont think you cant tell if someone is tougher than you, unless they have 16 inch biceps

If it's in the street and the person is alot bigger than you, they look very angry and very willing to rip you apart. Then I'd tend to get a little scared and get out of there. You can never tell when it's on the street and it certainly isn't worth the hassle to find out. It might even be some real little buy that could take you on the street. You never know!

As for in the ring, well if I'm in the ring with them then I'm not sizing them out. I'm not thinking about 'can they beat me?' When you are in the ring you have to think confidently! Everybody is nervous when they go in the ring and it doesn't make it any better if you are in there and still wondering whether you can beat the guy. You have to go there sure that you can win! When you get in there you have to size the opponent up and just think about beating him!

When in you are already starting a fight with someone you shouldn't think like that.

If someone looks like this, it's time to run.

i tend to see how athletic/fit they are, their height and weight, and their arm reach. where im from a lot of people dont put their guard up so i think i have a bit of a chance.

In streetfights, you just never know. In the ring, you can feel an aura of strength around a strong oponent (you can call it ki or chi or instinct or presence or aura or whatever. it's there)

hey Genius,i think that you can some times see that on the streets too...you know...when you see someone with a non-athletic body but at the same time you feel the sensation that the person is good at fighting...btw,I look if the muscles of the person are tight[(not if it's big)they can be big and tight though] and the eyes of the person(fighters have diferent ways of looking(can't explain this though)

I dont think you can ever tell really height doesnt matter to much if your a good fighter.
But some people you can kinda tell by the way they look if they look nervous then i think its all good, espacially where I fight.
