You need your body to get used to the situation, so either you could street fight mroe which i do not recommend or you could join a boxing gym or whatever is in your area and spar. Cause through months of sparring you will learn how to not panick when being punched, you will be confident in your own abilities and will now the basics of how to defend yourself. Even though learning something will not always keep you safe, its better than knowing nothing. Also breathing is important, you may ask why well you die if you dont. Haha no but seriously some people hold there breath or hyperventilate. Also you need to choose what response you are taking fight or flight. Because if you stand there thinking about it you are wide opened to being attacked and you just stress yourself and you will probably hyperventalate.
