| Question about heart beating in music
So, when your playing a instrument, or singing really long (15-30 mins) does this burn calories? I mean really cause your heart is beating hard after you do it for a while, so would that be good even if your just wanting to burn a little more after 2 workouts a day for fun?

I play guitar but unless I'm hopping around with a pocket amp jamming out then that's never really happened to me. But if it does happen to you. Then your heart is beating excess beats which takes more energy and which burns calories. Very few and don't take that upon yourself as a workout or anything because it's not but if you're looking for something to do then do that because it's better for you.

Not enough to count as far as losing calories go.
But if you're playing a wind instrument, it'll be great for cardio.

technically everything burns calories, reading burns more calories then idling because the mental process takes energy.
that being said, you wont see reading, or instrument practice, on any recommended diet program. |

If you're a classical singer or spend most of the day singing, it's actually quite the ab workout as any decent singer tells you that you're supposed to breathe, and sing, more from your stomach than what most people assume is a chest thing. And singing, you can do on top of things. I know, in health, personal case studies are hardly reliable, but I sing all the goddamned time and I don't even have a stomach, so I'm losing it somehow.
Yes, singing quite a bit, if you're actually projecting correctly and breathing right, is in fact a workout.

Look at most march band memebers (On the college level) most of them are very fit, in fact, most of them have an off season where they do a lot of conditioning, and weight training.

My little brothers a drummer who's always had great arms but has been a little bit of a "tubber" especially considering me and the rest of my brothers are practically anorexic.
Then he had to take up that marching drum thing where he has to carry the five drums at once. Ever since, this kid has torn down and completely bulked up shoulders and upper body.

I actually don't think so.
When you do sing, if you yell really loud like in rock bands, yes. If you are doing country, probably not.
The guitar and drums are probably the best, if you want to burn calories by music.
