Default Preperations for weight loss

Your not an athlete, your not a competitive fighter and you don't have a gym membership but you want to lose weight to get off your gut. No one likes having a gut, and no girls like guys with guts, so there's really no use in having one.
Now you can go out and spend $500AUD on a gym membership, or you could blow all your money on some home gym set but what is the actual point of doing all this when your body isn't physically prepared for weight loss?
It's like warming up before you go out for a jog, your 'warming up' your body for weight loss.

Metabolism: Metabolism is in dumbass terms, the mechanism in which the body uses energy (calories). Some people have an extremely efficient metabolism which makes then near invulunerable to putting on weight after eating food, whereas those with a not-so-good metabolism will find that eating food will bring on the pounds with visual effects too.
If we can learn to make our metabolism run more efficiently before we start thinking about serious weightloss, the pounds will come off quicker.
Ways to increase metabolism and lose weight (various sources):

1 - Eat breakfast. Eating breakfast is a must must must MUST! It keeps your metabolism at a steady rate, whereas if you skipped breakfast your body thinks that it is starving and when it does, as a protective step the body will slow down its metabolism rate. Food fuels your metabolism, keep eating!

2 - Eat earlier in the day. Research has showed that having a good breakfast and a good lunch alot earlier in the day will bring off the pounds. ALSO: eating hot spicy foods have shown to boost metabolism aswell

3 - Men should not eat less than 1200 calories a day, and women 1000 (correct me if i'm wrong, I'm going by memory on this one), as anything lower is not enough to support your basal metabolism.

4 - 3 meals a day is usually not enough, snack frequently. 5 - 6 meals a day will do the tricks.

5 - I think it was Kangaroo that mentioned this "Internet gamer diet - high carbohydrates, low fat. Weightlifter diet - low carbohydrates, high fat". We are the 'internet gamers' at the moment, so we must eat more foods high in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates fuel our metabolism alot more than fats, and have fewer calories per weight then fat.
Carbohydrates are food from plants, like your grains and vegetables etc..

6 - Walk alot more then usual. Get off the stop one stop before yours, and walk the rest. Take the stairs, not the elevator and the dog probably wants a longer walk then what you usually give him/her.

7 - Slight weight training helps tone muscles. Definition, not mass. This can be achieved by carrying the groceries around, lifting small weights in your spare time, help moving furniture.. If you are using dumbells, go with less weight, more reps. This sends the metabolism off the scales..

8 - Stay off the alcohol. I'm extremely hypocritical for saying this, but alcohol slows down the metabolism and stimulates your appetite. Both you do not need. But "why is it bad to stimulate your appetite" you say? Because you are actually eating no food at all, it's just a mindset that your not hungry.

9 - Water! Drink alot of water. I stated in the 'six-pack' thread about how important water is. I'll go through it again, just if people didn't get it.
"Your body stores water (obviousley) and when you decrease the amount of water intake the body starts to realise this and therefore, tries to hold on to as much water as possible.
Whereas if you take in enough water the body will - in simple terms - say "hey im getting enough water supply coming in, I don't need to hold onto this other water i've been storing" and therefore you're water weight will drop."

I try to consume alot of water, I make it my daily routine to get up in the morning, lift some dumbells for abit and then go to the fridge, knock back 2 huge glasses of water then another one but i'll spread that consumption time out.
It's a mistake to drink alot of water right before going to bed, trust me, from personal experience you'll be up all night peeing not sleeping.

10 - Stay away from sugar. Sugar makes your metabolism go into fat storage mode.

11 - Nicotene and caffiene boosts metabolism but of course, we all know the side affects of both. Most coffees have sugar in them and cigarettes, well everyone knows how bad a cigarette is. Even though cigarettes stimulate the appetite, i mentioned above we don't want anything but food to stimulate our appetite.
I'm not saying go buy a pack of 16mg cigarettes, and smoke your lungs away like I do (i had a relapse ) and i'm not telling you to go buy a fatty iced-coffee, what you should be doing is drinking green tea. It boosts your metabolism just as much as nicotene, and it lasts longer!
Get buyin on that green-tea.

12 - One thing that causes weight gain is stress, if we can all live happy non stressful lives we'll find that we won't have guts (in theory). Stress causes weight gain particularly around the stomach.

13 - Sleep is a must, eight hours minimum is what each and every one of us should be getting to keep weight gain away from us. It's been proven that in the last few hours of sleep, our muscles start to heal, preparing us for the next day.

Oh, and also, to lose 0.5kg a week you need to burn an excess of 2100kJ/500 calories per day.
The body automatically burns 3000 calories a day without you doing anything..
If anyone else has anymore tips on preparing the body for weight loss, or minimal exercise tips, feel free to add them and also correct me if any of the information above is wrong.

Woopsee.. Looks like i'm in for some editing than. I remember it was one of the authority figures that had said that though.

And yeah, I did write it myself but I got info from various sources, and some I just knew. When I'm on the computer and doing nothing and logged onto fighttips, usually no other member is on during the time i'm on, so no one replies to me so I just do research and start topics, or just post stuff coz i'm bored lol. I thought this would be a good way to contribute to the site..
I should have named the topic "maximizing your weight loss", but also if you follows those tips you are preparing yourself for alot of weightloss, so I dunno.

Green Tea is good. Unlike Coffee, it's a very steady release of caffeine.

And if you dont use sugar, no risk of weight gain.

Split one big meal into two small ones. Like prepare a big plate of pasta. Eat half of it till you're not hungry. Put it away. Microwave it later and eat the rest.

This is all stuff I did when I was cutting weight.

And RUNNING. You don't need a gym membership to run (unless its winter)

3 meals is not enough? im sorry but you are going to confuse people and make them fat you write in bold DIVIDE the portions instead of 3 big meals 6 small meals this accelerates the metabolism because calories are constantly entering your body and what your system does is actively burn more calories throughtout the day when it detects a constant income of calories that´s why 3 big meals is not recommended because getting ¨FULL¨
actually makes your metabolism go slower...

Ross Enamait did an experiment on weight gain. He wanted to see if he could gain some poundage without losing his speed, power, or endurance. He was able to do so simply by eating more and cutting out all long distance jogging. His end result was a gain of about 12 or so pounds, with no noticeable change in his power, speed, or endurance. Not bad... but applying that in reverse, if a fighter wanted to LOSE weight, adding long distance jogging and cutting back a bit on each meal would seem to work wonders.
