And in my experience, it doesn't affect my Wing Chun, but it does affect my fencing. Maybe it's because fencing requires more finesse, maybe it's just in my head. I don't know.

I wouldn't think it would affect the fight but it could. Best bet would not to do it in like a week before the fight. If you do then just ignore it, stay focused and forget about it.
