Many of you know that I have moved to L.A. from Canada, now Canada snows, A LOT. I ave always had this question on my mind ever since I moved, and I was recently thinking of visiting Canada again.
The locker room, High School, backyard brawl stuff, doesn't have anything to do with this question, what does is, snow.
If you would, have or ever will fight in the snow, outsde in the cold, would the best thing to do would be punch, clinch, elbow and knee? If you kick, chances are it wouldn't do much damage, and you could trip and fall on the concrete side of the road or curb. You could also stumble and fall off balance (your attacker could grab your leg and take you down) Am I right?
Are there any stategies, tips or instructionals for ighting in the cold, outside and in the snow? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

In the fight club I am in we did it when there was 24inches of snow on the ground(something like 62cms I am doing the math in my head so its off a little). Basically it was just no movement simply hit first and hit faster then them.
We also had it when there was about 2.54cms(1 inch). My strategy after seeing the first few fights was simply to charge and be aggressive since backing up or circling in snow causes them to lose balance of slip a little. When they slip there hands go down then you simply hit them in the face knocking them to the ground and then just jump on them and beat there face. Overall this fight lasted roughly 45seconds from start to finish.
So basically keep it simple and keep forward momentum. It is easier to keep balance going forward then it is going back or sideways.

Well living in Scotland the weather aint peachy so I suppose I can give some advice :P
Gloves are a must have: not real big thick ones but some kind of gloves. Im sure youve been out in the cold when your hands getall blue and frozen, and when you knock into something it hurts like hell?
Well you dont want that when you hit someone, so: gloves.
I wouldnt recommend kicking either, in the little amounts of snow chances are you could slip and in the deeper snow its very easy to overbalance.
You cant really on movement either, your feet will pretty much be planted on the ground, so go forward and keep punching.
They might not be able to back up quick enough and will fall over.
Also: close range snowball in the face/balls? |

I'd probably look to kick/throw snow in their face as a distraction and then go into them with the actual attack. I would hope to use grappling/throwing/locking/clinching type attacks in snow. That way you control them without having to worry about walking around in the snow. If I had them on the ground like a ground-and-pound situation, I would likely take handfuls of snow and open-hand strike them in the face with the snow. It sticks in eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. and makes it difficult to see. It is also very cold and perhaps disorienting. It can even choke them and hamper their breathing.
Another point is that they likely will have on heavy winter clothing. I might hang on to that to keep balance and throw them off balance. Pulling a coat up over their head can be handy. If they mount you, foot in the back of their jacket can push them of and off over your head--roll/twist to knees to face them before they come back at you. If you're holding them for support, a knee/shin/foot strike with heavy winter boots could be effective. Otherwise, be careful about getting too fancy with the feet in the snow, I'd think.
If all else fails, release your sled dogs on them! All you Canadians have sled dogs, right?...;-P

@ Cromwell lol man where do you get this stuff?
If it's deep snow you'll probably be wearing boots and some form of thicker pants
pants+boots= no kicks
if it's only an inch or close to it it will probably be slippery.
Thin gloves is great. Don't worry about whether or not it will make 'padding' for them it's for you not them. You will get hurt as hell if your hands get cold. You'll drop them and you wont want to use them then you lose.if your hands stay worm you can use them.
Keep charging at them. Throw jabs to throw them off as they back pedal then hit them with a big cross or an overhead hook. More than likely they will try ducking weaving and things like that. If they get their weight leaning backwards like that jus t jab or push them it will knock them down then it's over for them.
Use distractions. kick snow at them if you have on 2 layers of gloves throw the thicker layer at them. Throw snowballs at them doesn't matter where because if it's near them they're gonna dodge then you can just go and tackle them. If it hits them then they'll be caught off guard. Probably, obviously, the best thing to do is to get them to fall on their asses.

I just got in a fight in the snow and it was cold and at night. Wear a jacket but make sure it doesn't have a hood on it, so they can't pull it down over your face and punch you. The kid i fought had only a t-shirt on and he almost got frost bite on his arms from when i had back mount and was punching him on the side of the head. Stay as warm as you can and get your muscles warmed up and keep moving. Your gonna slip and fall but thats just part of fighting when its icy out. Its gonna hurt like a bitch and your hands are gonna be burning bad afterwards. After that one of my friends was gonna fight this kid but the other kid pussed out cause it was too cold, it was fucking 40 degrees f. what a pussy.
