How about you don't do either of those things.
You seem to think a 1-hit-KO is actually a common/easy thing to do. Let me tell you this: it's really not. Whether or not a punch or kick will knock someone out depends on how much force you hit them with, where you hit them, and how well they can take a punch. For instance, someone with strong neck muscles will be able to keep their head from snapping to the side as much as someone who doesn't have them. That will keep them from being KO'd in 1 hit. There are a multitude of factors that will essentially make training for a 1-hit-win both stupid and worthless. Even if someone has zero punch tolerance, if they flinch (move their head away from the punch, even putting up their hands), they have a much lower chance of being KO'd. That's because they are moving with the punch, and absorbing the impact over a greater distance and time (simple physics; the force they feel will be much less).
So instead of training for that 1-hit-KO, train your technique. It will make things a lot simpler. And, you won't have to worry about what he does to you once you miss, since you'll be a better trained fighter (hopefully).
