- 08-16-2011 03:10 PMMaddenHi, I know your into your medical stuff so i hoped you could help me out. I broke my hand a couple of days ago,went to the hospital ect. and spoke to 2 different people. They both said that I had also seriously damaged some on the tendons in my hand aswell but only one of them mentioned I might need surgery to mend them. Is this true or does it depend of the seriousness,place ect.?
- 08-07-2011 01:13 PMT1b0Hey mate, just recently heard i now have a slipped disc and 2 fractures, all in my back. Anyway, apparently the fractures will heal in 2-3 years, and fill with scar tissue, because of constant stress on the back (growth, mainly). My doctor said i have to do no running, jumping, landing for 6 months now, but it doesn't really hurt at all. I was wondering if, since it doesn't hurt, could i do some sport occasionally? Like listen to my body, not the doctor? He has been getting things wrong for a while now, predicting times it would heal etc.
And i will add that if it gets much worse by then, i will need surgery. Is that a good thing? Would i rather the surgery or natural healing?
The no sport thing is annoying the hell out of me since im trying to lose a bit of fat, and take up an MA soon. Thanks, ill post a picture, or if you need any extra detail, just ask for some. It's ok if you can't fully tell me everything, because you don't exactly know my case.
I think i remembered something like L5/S1, where my fractures are. - 07-20-2011 05:08 AMwestmagpiesSorry, the day I asked those questions I had left my worksheet at school. Those were from memory. The reason I've had to ask these is because we have to research a profession we are interested in. I've chosen medicine because I find it very interesting and would like to be a doctor someday. We had to write a series of questions to find out about our chosen job.
The questions are;
1. What is your name? (First name will suffice)
2. How many years did it take you to attain your degree?
3. Do you have a specialty? If so, how long did it take you (on top of the time taken to achieve your degree) to get it?
4. How long have you been practicing in Australia?
5. Has there been an illness that you have seen in a patient that was most significant to you? I.e seeing a mother with a terminal disease. How did you handle yourself in this situation.
6. This is an optional question. How old are you?
Thanks again mate, looking forward to hearing from you.
Max - 07-19-2011 08:57 AMwestmagpiesI've got a homework assignment due in a week and it's on the medicine profession.
The idea is to find out the;
Amount of years the doctor/nurse has been practicing medicine.
Whether or not they have a particular speciality, e.g Neurosurgeon.
and how long they were in school (including practical experience) in order to become a doctor.
My family doctor is away because of family issues and the other local doctor has pneumonia and is away for the next two weeks, so I turned to you.
Could you please answer those questions, It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Max - 07-17-2011 04:40 AMGritHey, I heard you have some knowledge on the medical side of things. Would you mind helpin' me out?
I have been having a continued headache for 3 days. It never goes away. And, in addition, I have been feeling week, and have been feeling like I have to puke. Do you have any idea what's up with this bull? - 07-16-2011 03:30 PMT1b0Hey, i made a thread on injuries, feedback would be greatly appreciated since you're a doctor
