i hate the words "self defence" some bullshit that someone made up. aside from being a way of getting out of an assault charge its useless as a term, if you go into a fight just try to defend yourself you are going to need mind numbing skills like superman to win that shit. you gotta go in to hurt the other guy.
style probably wont matter, its your personality.
if you really wanted to get out as safely as possible then 9/10 times u will just let them rob you or rape you or w/e and hope they leave you alone because its pretty much guaranteed they will try and kill you if you try using your self defence crap lol.
its all about offense (just forgot how to spell. i really gotta work on that).
anything that takes more than 6 months to be effective is not good imo. simplicity is key. if its effective before 6 months but not fully perfected or developed that ok but if its been six month and yo ass still getting beat u doing it wrong homie

I've only really learned (although I've been in a lot of street fights, so maybe that counts?) how to fight very recently and I'm still not that good. I "managed" to just push kick the dude every time he tried to throw a punch lol He was like 16 and a shit head though so he doesn't pose that much of a threat to begin with...

Just beacuse you can't use that art in YOUR defense dosen't mean the next person can't. jeez. And an art that you can't use in your personal style is the worst for YOU.

Love the new ninja outfit Luther! |
not so usless if you get slammed on your head.... i'd have to say martial arts that are made for show.....
XMA i love XMA but have never seen any practicality in self defence
karate/Mcdojo i think karate is great weather its tkd tsd ect. but you have to learn it from the right instructor---- point sparring doesnt help in a fight, they tain you control and to stop your kick, then you do it in a fight... witch screwed my kicks up, i'm still breaking old habbits, watch all my fights you will see i cant land head kicks, i keep stopping before i hit the target...
other than that Kali "if your without your weapon" its a great style for knife/ stick fighting but if you don't have have one, your at a disadvantage to say a wrestler...
can't think of much else...

Kali has super advanced wrestling and hand to hand. Probably more than any other martial art out there. Dumog is the origins of much of wrestling.
