Exclamation Gorilla's Detailed Training Log

4 weeks in MMA
I’ve done 4 weeks of MMA so far and am really enjoying it. I’ve made some progress in Fitness. I’ll start with my running. Since I’ve done MMA I can run slightly faster than I could before. I can also run and jog for longer without getting tired. When we warm up I’m still finding it hard to keep up with the more experienced people. I’m guessing it’s because they have been doing it longer and I wasn’t in very good shape to start off with and still am not as good as I would like to be. However my running is improving I still have a long way to reach my full potential.
My strength has gotten better. I am now able to do one chin up. This isn’t a lot compared to most people, but it is an improvement. My abs and neck are very strong. since I’ve done MMA getting over the highest score in the sit-up test which is 80, however I did 100 to test myself. I’m still doing push-ups on my knees at the moment. I’m sure after I get fitter and push-ups on my knees become very easy I will move up to my toes.
I’ve learnt a lot after 4 weeks. Such as submissions, kicks, punches and knees. My punching is very good and I have taking a liking to kicks. I can kick quite high even though I’m not very flexible, however that has increased too. My friend Harley that I partner up with most of the time can’t kick high and his left leg is very weak. His right leg on the other hand seems more powerful than my right leg, yet my leg is stronger than his. Out kicking him has been my goal and I’ve been practising on my boxing bag. Knees are the hardest in my opinion, but I’m getting used to them as I practise at home. A lot of the time a pain at the back of my knee hurts whenever I knee or bend my leg. This has never happened before and I’m hoping to will stop by next class. Submissions and takedowns have been fun to learn. I’m pretty good at the double leg takedown but every time I go down to the ground after I take Harley down his knee seems to hit my thighs or gut. I’m hoping to fix this in my next lesson. Clinch grapping is tricky because Harley is so good at it, i’ll going to make it my goal to beat him next class.
All in all it’s been very beneficial. I would like to do Muay Thai too but my mum doesn’t want to go 5 nights a week. I’ve told her the next Muay Thai classes start next school term so she will have 5-7 weeks to get stronger after her toe op and still no.
Next log update in 4 weeks.

Don't worry about been tired in the warmup, the experienced people dont get as tired because

A) There probably in good shape
B) They have memorized the warmup and plateued.

Its good to get a good sweat going and a heart rate up in the warm up anyways.

Make sure you stretch after every session! Do a full body stretch!!

Homiesdontknowaboutsparta is right you dont need to fatigue yourself in the warm up

Exclamation Re: Gorilla's Detailed Training Log

5 weeks in MMA
Ok I’ve finished my 5th week and I thought I would update my training log. I’ll start with running, it hasn’t really gotten much better but I am able to run longer without getting tired. As for warm ups and warm downs I’m slowly getting better and am pushing myself a little harder every training day. My cardio as well has gotten a bit better nothing too big but like I said slowly improving.
My strength is getting better... not by much but my muscles are becoming more defined and harder. This week we did grappling so my arms where hurting after. My partner that I train with most nights is very strong when grapping and I’m having trouble beating him. Every time I try to break his guard by digging my elbows into his inner thighs he does not seem to feel the pain, where as I can. He can also crush me with his strength which I’d like to match him at but are having trouble finding the right exercises for grappling power. I have also looked up how to resist the elbows into the inner thighs but I can’t seem to find anything ether.
I’m still doing push-ups on my knees but they are becoming easier slowly and I think I will move to toes in a week or 2. My dad says we can work out something about the 5 nights a week in 3 mouths, so I’m training hard and showing them how much I love fighting. I’ve fixed the knees into my gut when I shoot take my partner down after a double leg takedown, so that’s out of the way now. I talked to my friend and he said that his dad did kick boxing for 12 years. I asked him to tell his dad that I would pay him for lessons at his house if he was up for it so that might be a way to train 5 nights a week.
Next log update in 1-4 weeks
