Default Perks & Cons of Body Fat

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having some body fat? I know it can absorb some damage and help protect you. I also know that a person with a higher body fat percentage can be in better shape or have better muscles than someone with less body fat but looks ripped. I was wondering so i decided to ask. Thank you in advance

ive rolled with guys where it was hard to close guard but that much fat does more harm than it does good.

energy reserves

the heavier you are the harder you are to move and when your on top of a guy you can make it hard for them to breath by putting all your weight on their chest

Default Re: Perks & Cons of Body Fat

Fight sport-wise it adds weight to a competitor (even though muscle is heavier). And it can be so its harder to grapple due to the size of the person i.e. not being able to lock hands or legs around a person. I would suspect that if 2 guys were equal in all aspects the guy with a bit of fat should go longer as the fat is energy that the body uses first (suspect).

Survival wise its better to have a bit of fat than be pure muscle as it adds insulation and provides energy that is not made from protien i.e. your muscles (thats the body cannabilising itself).

that insulation is bullshit last night i went out with a friend and he had a jacket twice as a thick as mine as despite his layer of fat he was still shivering like a bitch but during summer he just sweats like a fucking pig i always tell him to lose weight though... XD

wait, what? absorbs damage? stronger then someone with lower bodyfat? the hell have you been smoking, muscles > fat
the ONLY thing fat will help you with is last longer without food

the guy's harder to throw since he's heavier I guess? but seriously, just punch the blubbery lard and knee his groin

well here's one, it can deceive you into thinking that he's slow, coz he's fat, but I've seen fat people move fast before, like, REALLY FAST

You can actually have better conditioning when your a little chubby.

Heres an example:
Phil Baroni is incredibly muscular has no conditioning tho
why? because his body has to use SO much air to keep those muscles moving.

Now a guy like Fedor has incredibly fighting conditioning, he has a layer of chub on him.
It actually helps him stayed in amazing condition cause your body doesnt require as much air and can burn some fat and use it for energy.

Where do you get this information from?! having a layer of subcutaneous lipids (FAT) won't make you a better fighter...

Phil baroni was a bad example he just sucks, its true that larger muscles need to use more "air" *ahemm* oxygen to be more specific, is what is being pumped through ur blood to those muscles.

Cardio is the word you are looking for which is an essential part of any fighter's conditioning, having good cardio would equal having a large gas tank, you see your heart is always pumping and working along with your lungs to bring more oxygen into ur body the rate of how much oxygen you are using up and the amount you are getting determines your endurance (proper breathing is important too btw). Also it is important to mention that once ur muscles dont get enough oxygen they produce lactic acid, which gives u that sensation of "burning" when u are at your limit, its not fat... if you want to be specific lactic acid is formed as a result of glucose being incompletely metabolized.

Fat burning doesn't work that way, its not like OH I NEED SOME ENERGY *BURRRRRN*, he would be fucking ripped after each training session, the fat you have under your skins its actually ur body's last resort energy so its harder for the body to process fat into energy than it is with carbs which are much easier to process.

In other words Fedor emelianenko has better conditioning than phil baroni not because he has a layer of fat but he has better cardio do not get them confused...
