Default Punching bag

I just remembered that I have a punching bag in my garage(the kind that hangs off the ceiling) I'm not sure of the name. And I was wondering if this is any help for cardio. Like how long would I have to work on it to be sufficient enough for a days cardio, just enough to help lose weight. Do any of you guys use them and how are they? Thanks

it would help your cardio for a fight but it wouldnt help your cardio as much as running and skipping, for cardio workouts use aerobic exerises like running, sprinting and cycling

I'm not sure what you're asking, Mr0range.

Are you saying you don't have enough cardio to be able to lose weight, the state you're in now? Are you asking if hitting the heavybag will help build cardio, so you can start running, swimming, etc., so you can lose weight?

Thanks for clearing this up.

Yeah that's pretty much it, I was asking if the punching bag was a good source of cardio. And what else it helps with. I run on the weekends but usually not weekdays, because of an akward schedule. And during the weekdays I would like to ounch the bag to help cardio. Hope I cleared it up

I have one, two.

Keep punching it and do all the combos, fakes, and things you would do as if you would do in a real fight or shadow boxing, except you are just hitting somethin that doesn't hit you back.

That helps with cardio, something I like to do is throw as many kicks as you can and the fastest you can, then, when you can't do anymore, switch sides.

For cardio on the bag, try doing as many punches as you can in 60 seconds. Try to push for more then 4 a second. It's not hard, but it's also no easy. Circle the bag. Don't stand in one place and try to hit. Hit and move. Just as if you had a stationary opponent, keep moving.

Default Re: Punching bag

I've got one. I put on some heavy gloves and I just act like I'm in a real fight. I circle the bag practice blocks and such. I practice all my kicks a ton. I punch for a minute straight I do it about 3 times per session. After awhile you start to sweat a little and your breathing will prolly get heavy then go for two more minutes. this should help cardio. Also wear sweatpant and a sweatshirt to help cut weight some.
