Default Thai Kick?

When missing a Thai round kick and you spin all the way around, how do you recover from that? What are some attacks you can throw while you have your back turned on your opponent for that quick second? Thanks!

Continue into a spinning backfist if you want to, a la Nate Marquardt. I find it best to just get my stance back, and forget I missed the kick.

If you have ever watched Juno's shadowboxing video he always follows his kicks with a spinning backfist. Sometimes I prefer to follow with a backside heel kick or something of the such.

Spinning backfist, spinning hook kick.

I personally never spin all the way - I just stop myself half way. It's how Masato does it.

yeah i used to this a lot since it was a basic thing to do just for beginners to get use to the power of the kicks, the kick has to be strong enough that if u miss u should spin all the way

in striking only comps this is not a big problem, but experienced fighters might save more time just stoping the kick if they know its gonna miss by not following through but stepping down with the kicking leg and go back to stance whereas a beginner would actually save more time and energy spinning all the way and raising the knee after the kick in case of a counter kick

i like to follow with a spinning backfist, spinning kicks not so much they are a bit predictable in that range after u miss the first kick they are already a bit far to reach unless u were really setting it up

Outside of the ring I tend to think it unwise to expose your back by finishing the turn on a missed kick. There is a split second where you're just facing the wrong way, and that isn't good!...lol

push kick with the raised knee, gives you some time and space, then follow that with a side kick and a flurry, seems to work for me.
