Well, this is perfect. I was in the same situation and it didn't end so well for me. I was stabbed once, slashed once, hit with a bat twice. I ended up with a broken collar bone, two knife wounds, a concusion, and two broken ribs. My girl was safe, and thats all that mattered to me.
Just be carefull out there people. Thugs bring weapons.
God, I tell this story too much.....

I highly doubt you fought for exactly an hour. Unless you training on mountains for most,if not all,of your life than I highly doubt it.
Why care a bat? Its much easier to conceal a baton like the one's the American police officers carry (not for sure if they carry them anywhere else). Its collapsible so one would be able to carry it in their pocket.
If you still prefer your bat than I will support you and I may even visit you in jail everyonce in a while.
I would be lying if I said that I never carried a knife because I have. I leave in a bad neighborhood and when I was younger I used to hangout with gangbangers (I was never in one) so I had to be able to hold my own if/when something happened. I don't carry a knife or anything anymore because I don't have any money to spend. The only things that I could consider weapons on me are my key chain (its the kind you can hang around your neck),my belt,my hands, and most importantly my Brain.
Also,if you think your gonna get jumped, run. Doesn't matter if you have a bat or not,you can still be overwhelmed.

I carry a blade everywhere and I know how to use it well. And yes, like Tony said: Run. I've ran from more fights than not, but I'm fine with that.

-Luther | True but its a good way to let people know to be cautious. The world isn't all fluffy bunnies and blowjobs.

Why would you be in a fight if it wasn't for your life!? | So your saying that crime robber that rob little old ladies and others are doing it to save their life? No, they're doing it for the money.
You pull out a knife, assault, you fight back, you are going to get stabbed, you run away from the knife, you are safe. You then phone the police and then they get charged with assault.
By the time you pull out your knife, the other person or one of his crew members pulls out a gun and your dead. End of story.

He doesn't even have to come with a shotgun, he touches your property then that is loitering and anoher word I am thinking about that I can't remember.
Call the police and don't be afraid to fight back.

And to Luther.. I'm sorry, but yes, you do tell it often (but never too often :])
